EU aims to set up a "European Higher Education Area" by mutual recognition of the education period and encouraging quality standards with the member states of the European Union where Turkey is included as well. In this context, the Republic of Turkey with the precedence of the Higher Education Institution gives great importance to the EU's quality higher education field policy. Education Policy holds an important place in Turkey's development plan (11th Development Plan 2019-2023) as well. The presence of a quality higher education in Turkey will be brought to qualified graduates and eligible staff who are necessary for the improvement along with its development. Therefore, increasing international cooperation, exchanging the student-staff mobility by the implementation of good practices will contribute to Turkey's learning-teaching development efficiently.
Among IGU's strategic and internationalization objectives, it is aimed to increase the number of foreign languages education programs, the number of foreign academic staff and international students, and the number of incoming and outgoing student-staff mobility. IGU's internationalization strategy is also in line with European Higher Education strategies. IGU has achieved many successes within the scope of its strategic and internationalization objectives. IGU with 'the Internationalization Strategy of the Year' has been the only university among the seven universities which are in the final evaluation stage from Turkey in THE ASIA 2019 which determines the best universities and known as Oscar of the Higher Education Institutions. Furthermore, IGU, as a Leader Turkish university with most of 57 international accreditation programs has broken the record in this field.
